So, let me try and flush out who we are and what we’re all about. First of all, we are a loosely knit group of cycling enthusiasts found in Hamilton NY and soon in Northampton MA. We enjoy cycling with others, be it on the roads, trails, or mountains. Our ability levels are all over the map. We welcome riders of all ages and fitness level. Our favorite mantra is ‘no rider left behind’.Our goal is to organize energetic group rides. Sure it’s great to speed down a stretch of road or mountain by yourself. Yet sometimes you’re looking for others to share the excitement or torture with. That’s where we come in! In the past we’ve used e-mail or on-line sites to notify members of what we’re up to. We’ve been left with a taste of spamming from those tools. Our newest notification method is Twitter! This allows us to twit away without fear or reprisal. If ya don’t want to know what we’re up to then just stop following us. Simple and effective. No more e-mailing someone asking to please be removed from the list. Ya want back in on the low down, again, just follow us.
“What’s with the Red Lantern?” you might be asking. The Lanterne Rouge is a cycling term used to denote the competitor who is in last place in a cycling race. The phrase comes from the French “Red Lantern” and refers to the red lantern hung on the caboose of a railway train, which conductors would look for in order to make sure all the cars were accounted for. We use the reference to make sure no one has been left behind.
As always, keep the rubber side down!
